The community is invited to celebrate Somonauk Hometown Harvest from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, at the Heartland Bank parking lot, 128 S. Depot St. in Somonauk.
The event is presented by Somonauk Village, Somonauk Police and Fire departments, Heartland Bank and the Fox Valley YMCA. This celebration is for adults and children of all ages.
A new event has been added for the day: A local author fair, with 10 or more local authors will be set up in the Village Hall meeting room. The public can meet the local authors, ask for autographs and purchase their work. The author fair will run from 2 to 5 p.m.
Another main event with be the antique and working truck/tractor show organized by Northwest Illinois American Truck Historical Society. Those interested in showing can call Jerry Shaw at 815-955-0050. The show will be positioned on Depot Street south to DeKalb Street. Although trucks and tractors will be featured, cars will not be turned away.
The Olmstead Museum also will be open the day of the event. The Somonauk Fire Department will host an open house and sponsor a fireman obstacle course. Heartland Blood Bank will conduct a blood drive from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
There also will be a vendor fair for all types of businesses, from farmers markets to Paparazzi, LuLaRoe and more. Those interested in becoming a vendor should call Jackie Eade at 331-205-0627.
A raffle of baskets donated by Heartland Bank, the Somonauk Fire Department, the village of Somonauk, Resource Bank, the Somonauk Public Library and the Fox Valley YMCA also is planned. All proceeds will go to the Somonauk Lion’s Club.
