Monthly Business Meeting

Fall Brat Fest

11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, at American Legion Post 570, 168 N. Main St. Brats, sauerkraut, onions, beans and coleslaw will be served. Cost is $5 for one brat, $7 for two. The game room is open. Come for a meal or stay all day.

MILLBROOK

Harvest Breakfast and Bake Sale

7 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, at Millbrook United Methodist Church, 8360 Fox River Drive. A suggested donation of $8 will be taken at the door. The menu will include pancakes, eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns, biscuits and sausage gravy, coffee and juice.

Open Road ABATE After-Party

4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, at the Plano American Legion, 510 E. Dearborn St. For those with Open Roads Summer Run Books. Books must be turned in by 4 p.m. and the drawing for $750 in cash prizes will be awarded at 5 p.m. To be eligible, you must have 40 regular stops and at least one bonus stop stamped. Mental Health First Aid

6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 9, at the Plano Community Library, 15 W. North St. The Kendall County Health Department will present an overview of mental health issues, how to identify them, and how to help someone who has a mental illness, anxiety or depression. No registration needed.

New Life for Old Bags

10:30 a.m. to noon the second Saturday of each month – next, Oct. 14 – at the Plano Community Library, 15 W. North St. Volunteers turn discarded plastic shopping bags into plastic yarn to be crocheted into sleeping mats for the homeless. Donations of plastic bags can be left at the library. Adopt-A-Pet

1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, at the Sandwich Public Library, 925 S. Main St. The Paws & Purrs Humane Society will bring adoptable kittens to the library. Consider adopting a homeless pet and provide them with a “furr-ever” home.

Open House

8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 8, at the fire station, 310 E. Railroad St. A pancake breakfast will be held from 8 a.m. to noon. Activities scheduled for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. include tours of the Children’s Safety Trailer and fire station; blood pressure screening; fire engine rides; and viewing displays of static fire equipment.
